The Dutch Annual Linguistics Day (Grote Taaldag) 2026
The Dutch Annual Linguistics Day (Grote Taaldag) took place on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at the Science Park (Utrecht University). We organized a very varied program featuring lectures, coffee breaks, the annual Language Gala, and an inspiring keynote by Jimmy van Rijt.
As usual, the AVT/Anéla PhD Dissertation Prize and the LOT Popularization Prize were also awarded at the end of the day during the Language Gala.
This year, Gijs Leenders (Utrecht University) won the AVT/Anéla PhD Dissertation Prize for his dissertation Bewuste taalvaardigheid ontleed: Research into context-rich, language-contrastief, and process-oriented grammar teaching in the subjects of Dutch, English, and German.

Anéla Conferentie 2024: Applied Linguistics across boundaries
The 10th Anéla conference took place on Thursday 6 and Friday 7 June, 2024, in Zebrastraat, Gent, Belgium.
In this edition, we wanted to unite researchers across disciplinary and national boundaries. In addition to oral presentations, poster sessions, and keynote talks, we also organized activities for getting to know fellow researchers, and to set up collaborations.
This edition’s keynotes were presented by dr. Mieke Vandenbroucke (Universiteit Antwerpen) and dr. Bart Deygers (Ghent University).
More information is available here.
